What does sending your bill actually start?
Community solar enrollment starts with a utility account, not a roof inspection. Lower Your Bill reads the electric utility, account holder, service address and usage from your bill. We use those details to find a solar project in the same utility territory and size the share of production assigned to your account. The service address matters: a mailing address by itself does not tell the farm where electricity is being used.
Our team confirms the enrollment by phone and follows the farm's steps. You do not need to type the account number, enter a card or arrange a visit.
Which pages of the electric bill do you need?
Send the full electric bill as a PDF or clear photographs. Include all pages: the account summary identifies the account; later pages can contain the 12-month usage history, supplier details and existing credits. Photograph both sides if printed front and back.
Keep the account holder, service address, account number and usage chart readable. A payment receipt cannot show annual usage.
How do state and household answers affect enrollment?
Community solar eligibility follows the electric utility territory. JCP&L and PSE&G accounts are in New Jersey; BGE and Pepco accounts are in Maryland; ComEd serves Illinois. A project for one utility cannot assign credits to another utility's account.
Maryland income-qualified households receive a higher discount than other households. Either qualifying household income or participation in an accepted programme can qualify a Maryland household. New Jersey income qualification does not change the discount; it helps place the household on a farm sooner. We ask household size and the matching income question where state data supports it, then the programme question. The form does not require income-document uploads.
What happens after Lower Your Bill reads the account?
Lower Your Bill is partnered with over 30 solar farms. We match your utility, account type, household qualification and actual usage to a project with room, rather than putting every account onto the same waiting list. In New Jersey our community solar enrollment is for residential accounts; businesses can ask us about commercial supply rates and bill auditing instead. Community solar is not available in Pennsylvania or Ohio.
We are known for getting customers the best allocation. The allocation is your share of farm output, and we size it from actual usage rather than the amount due on one unusually high bill. Once the utility processes enrollment, credits appear within the next 2-3 billing cycles. Form submission and utility processing are separate steps; we do not promise a calendar date for the first credit.
What stays the same, and who handles a problem?
Community solar keeps your electricity supply, utility connection and normal bill unchanged. No panels are installed, no meter work is needed and there is no interruption to power. Enrollment is free, requires no credit check or credit card, and you can cancel at any time with no fee. A subscription charge for discounted credits is not an enrollment fee: the credit and charge may be shown together or on separate bills, depending on the project.
If the first credit is missing, a later credit stops, or the allocation looks wrong, send us the full bill and tell us what changed. We compare the account, bill period and farm record and go back to the solar farm ourselves to work it out. We do not hand you a phone number and leave you between the farm and utility. Call 732-314-5010. Power outages still go to your utility's normal emergency number.

Does community solar require a credit check?
Community solar enrollment through Lower Your Bill requires no credit check, credit card or signup fee. We read the utility account and usage from your electric bill; you are not applying for a loan or buying panels.

Renters can join community solar when the electric bill is in their name. Nothing is installed at the rental property, so no landlord permission is needed. An apartment with electricity included in rent does not have an individual utility account to enroll.

Maryland households can qualify by household income or participation in an accepted assistance programme. Income qualification increases Maryland's discount. In New Jersey it helps placement on a farm sooner but does not change the discount. The online form asks household questions, not income-document uploads.

Community solar credits appear within the next 2-3 billing cycles after the utility processes enrollment. Send Lower Your Bill the latest full bill if credits are missing or have stopped; we check the account and go back to the solar farm ourselves to work it out.
