Does community solar affect HEAP, USF or other assistance?
Community solar is a credit on your electric bill — it is not income and not a cash benefit. Subscribing does not affect SNAP, USF, NJ FamilyCare, Section 8, OHEP, Medicaid or HUD housing assistance.

If you receive HEAP or another programme not listed here, it is worth confirming with the agency that runs it. In Maryland, taking part in a programme such as SNAP, OHEP, Medicaid or HUD housing assistance can qualify your household for the higher income-qualified discount.
